6 accomplices of Murtaza Bhutto acquitted in murder case KARACHI: A local court acquitted on Friday six companions of Mir Murtaza Bhutto in a murder and attempted murder case.

The case was heard by additional session judge Aftab Ahmed. The court, after hearing arguments from both sides during the last hearing, had reserved the judgment till Dec 4. Four accused, Dr. Mazhar Memon, Ghulam Murtaza, Asghar Ali, Mahmud Bhai, Akhtar Meerani and Asif Jatoi appeared before the court to hear the judgment.

In his short order, the court acquitted the companions of Mir Murtaza Bhutto. They were accused of firing at the police when it had asked Mir Murtaza Bhutto and his six companions to stop. As a result, the then ASP Shahid Hayat and SHO Clifton Haq Nawaz Sayyal were injured.

The defense lawyer had argued that the police had itself opened fire to show it as fake encounter. While the allegations leveled against them were baseless and false.
