At least five die in Egypt ferry collision CAIRO: At least five people were killed and as many as 70 were missing after two ferries collided Friday night in northern Egypt, security sources told media, Geo news reported.

Emergency workers were at the scene of the accident, near the northern Egyptian city of Rashid, police said, and had rescued at least 10 people.

The cause of the accident which took place at around 5:30 pm (1530 GMT) was still unclear, a police official said.

"A search is ongoing for the missing people," the governor of nearby Beheira province, Mohammed Shaarawy, told the national television.

He told the state-run news agency that only between six and eight people were still missing.

Witnesses told media that the boat, supposed to carry 25 to 30 people, was in fact carrying up to 60.
