Altaf for separate anti-terror institution LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain demanded the constitution of an independent and separate institution for the elimination of terrorism and that a national policy in this regard be immediately hammered out.

According to a statement issued from London, Altaf Hussain said there is no concrete and comprehensive national policy or institution to tackle the menace of terrorism in our country.

He said that in view of present circumstances, an all-encompassing and multi-pronged policy is needed for national solidarity, the protection of life and property of citizens and vital government installations.

The steps meant for poverty alleviation, spreading literacy and good governance should target those trends which turn out instrumental in the hands of extremists and terrorists.

Altaf Hussain further urged that participation of individuals including ulema, political and social leaders and media persons should be ensured.

He said the people should be afforded out and out guidelines to cope with the extremism.
